About the Author

Michel Jeruchim was born in Paris France, three years before Germany invaded. Two years later, as the French police, under orders from the Nazis, were raiding the Jewish population of Paris and environs, Michel and his family were warned of the round-up and avoided capture. Through the actions of courageous gentiles, Michel and his siblings were sent into hiding in different parts of Normandy. His parents, however, were arrested trying to cross into the unoccupied zone and sent to Auschwitz, where they were murdered.

After the war, Michel and his siblings were able to immigrate to the US. There, Michel learned English, went to public school, high school, college, graduate school, earning a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. He had a long career in aerospace technology, publishing some three dozen papers and co-authoring two books. He still consults one day a week.

During that time, he also met his wife, Joan, with whom he co-authored two boys, who have now given them seven grandchildren.

Joan and Michel now live in Philadelphia.
